Migration experience and uncertain immigration status can leave many immigrants in the US vulnerable to poor health outcomes. These are often compounded by a web of exclusionary, exploitative, marginalizing, and even persecutory practices and policies related to housing, employment, justice, and immigration. Many of these health-harming exposures are shaped by prejudicial views that can range from implicit biases to explicit racism.
Physicians can play a powerful role in improving the health of immigrant populations and dismantling health-harming racist policies and practices. Join us as we discuss efforts to improve clinical care, remove barriers to access, and leverage research and strategic partnerships with legal aid and immigrant advocacy groups to advance health, equity and justice for this vulnerable patient population.
