This Clinical Update in Obesity Medicine was originally presentat at the SGIM22 annual meeting in Orlando (April 2022).

The prevelance of overweight and obesity continues to increase in the U.S. On average 42% of U.S. adults are considered obese.  Presenter provide the latest research on a rage of treatments for obesity.  

The session presenters will provide an update on the CDC data and discuss changes in prevalence by region.  Followed by a review of importantupdates in the filed of obesity medicine on lifestyle management, behavioral health and obsity, use of pharmacotherpy and surgical safety.  The review focus will be to discuss effectiveness, risks and benefits of new interventions and how these new developments are relevent to primary care physicans in addressing overweight and obesity with patients.
