This symposium, Providing Equitable Ambulatory Care through Telehealth, was originally delivered at the SGIM22 annual meeting in Orlando (April 2022) and re-recorded April/May 2022.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe how disparities can be increased or mitigated in telehealth
- Assess the equity of telehealth implementation and how to change the implementation to enhance equity
- Identify policies that impede implementation of equitable telehealth and how to advoate for polcy change
- Identify telehealth innovations and digital inclusion strategies to enhance access and patient experience among vulnerable communities
The presenters will share the impact telehealth had on disparities in the ambulatory setting, both good and bad, get tips on how to implement/improve telehealth in ways that increase access to patients and promote equitable delivery of care, what state and federal policies support equitable telehealth delivery and which ones we need to advocate to change, and common pitfalls to avoid unintentionally exacerbating disparities.
