Cynthia Cheng Correia
Cynthia Cheng Correia helps professionals and organizations enhance what they do. For over two decades, she has helped managers and companies develop their competitive intelligence (CI), critical foresight, and strategic capabilities through advising, training, improving processes and practices, & applying effective tools. Her expertise extends into the combined disciplines of CI and knowledge management (CIKM), which helps organizations boost the effectiveness of each function. Cynthia’s practice also includes intelligence defense, open source intelligence (OSINT), and identifying and minimizing cognitive biases and perceptual errors in research, analysis, problem-solving, critical foresight; and decision-making; and overcoming barriers to enhance collaboration, knowledge creation, intelligence generation, creativity & innovation, and foresight.
A speaker and author, Cynthia brings clarity, approachability, and ease to discussing how people and organizations can understand their situations, and sharpen their perspectives and practices. She has spoken at events for leading companies and associations like Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP), Special Libraries Association (SLA), Elsevier, Dow Jones, and Information Today. She has also appeared in various media, including The New York Times, Competitive Intelligence Magazine, The Emerald Handbook of Modern Information Management, Super Searchers on Competitive Intelligence, Information Outlook, The National Law Journal, and The Carnegie Council’s Competitive Ethics series. She authored her “In the Know” column for Competitive Intelligence Magazine for many years and was founding Editor of Intelligence Insights.
Founding President of the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows, Cynthia led the development of its annual Competitive Intelligence Summit. She is a distinguished leader in the CI field and has committed herself to advancing CI through advising, championing, mentoring, and educating. She is also a recipient of SCIP’s 2011 Catalyst Award and the WISE Faculty of the Year Award in 2012 and 2015 for her graduate-level instruction at the Simmons College School of Library and Information Science (SLIS). Cynthia is the developer of SLA’s Competitive Intelligence Certificates Program; and she has also served in various volunteer leadership roles in SCIP, SLA, and other organizations.
