Podcasts have grown in popularity over the years, covering a wide variety of interests, including librarianship. Join SLA-LMD for this panel presentation about approaches to podcasting and the development of a podcast. Speakers Lorene Kennard, Ben Jackson, and Christina Taylor-Gibson will share their expertise on the subject.
Panelist Biographies:
Lorene Kennard
Lorene Kennard has achieved the Grand Slam of leadership in libraries. She has worked as a solo in a corporate library, as a director of a public library, as an archivist and tech services manager in an academic library and has owned a research and consulting business. She is a Past President of SLA Illinois, where she won numerous chapter awards. She started producing and hosting The Librarian Linkover in the spring to boost and advance the value of librarians. She and her guests are changing the paradigm on how we perceive the value of librarians' skills.
Ben Jackson
Ben Jackson is a project archivist for the Hugo Keesing Collection on Popular Music and Culture at Special Collections in Performing Arts, University of Maryland, College Park. He is also a doctoral candidate in ethnomusicology at Maryland where his work explores nontraditional performance venues and community through ethnographic and computational methods. You can hear and see some of his recent archival work in the podcast "Not a Quiet Place: Exploring Special Collections in the Performing Arts at the University of Maryland" and in UMD's digital exhibit "Modern Songs of War and Conflict."
Christina Taylor-Gibson
Christina Taylor Gibson is American Bandmasters Association Project Archivist at Special Collections in Performing Arts, University of Maryland, College Park and an MLIS student on the same campus. She is also a published musicologist with a specialty in musical modernism.
