06.12.19 | Cannabis Research: Legal Limitations and Opportunities

During this webinar, we will discuss the current legal and regulatory landscape that impacts if and how research with cannabis can be conducted, including the difference between working with and without a DEA Schedule 1 license, working with high THC marijuana verses low THC hemp, and their component parts and regulatory issues associated with new drug development and FDA requirements. We will also provide an overview of working with universities to fund cannabis research.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand what “cannabis” is including current research with cannabis materials that can legally be conducted and an overview of how to compliantly carry out cannabis studies.
  2. Gain familiarity with key regulatory limitations and requirements applicable to working with cannabis materials.
  3. Learn about the process of funding cannabis-related research at a university as a sponsored research project.
