Encore | A Series of Annual Meeting iSessions

This is a session on how you can monitor transactions using an efficient, risk-based approach. Participants will hear from audit experts on how monitoring expenses on a routine basis can reduce the risk of audit findings. The session will provide an overview of high-risk transaction areas and introduce ideas of how one might use a risk based approach to inquire about a subset of the transactions. The instructors will review how one might approach monitoring COVID funding, travel and entertainment expenses, participant support costs, among others!

  1. Emphasize the importance of data integrity in monitoring transactions.
  2. Utilize approaches from this session to implement at their home institution.

    Christyne is the Associate Director for Training and Compliance in the Office for Sponsored Programs at Harvard University. In this role, she is the point of contact for sponsored audits, training university-wide and responsible for areas of financial compliance. She has experience in regulation and policy interpretation as well as sponsored systems development. Christyne has 12 years of experience in grants management in both large and small institutions of higher education as well as non-profit organizations

  • Roseann Luongo, Consultant, Huron Consulting Group

    Roseann is a research compliance professional with extensive experience in regulation interpretation and analysis. She has over 19 years’ experience in research compliance and administration, including risk assessment, policy and process development compliance concern investigation, and conflicts of interest analysis and management.

    PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
    Prior to joining Huron, Roseann served as the Associate Director for Training and Compliance at Harvard University. While at Harvard, she managed all sponsored audits, including the Uniform Guidance audit; performed compliance assessments; developed policies related to federal regulatory compliance; and established a grants management training program.
