Fundamentals of Wind Turbines

The rising concerns over climate change, environmental pollution, and energy security have increased interest in developing renewable energy. We are seeing an unparalleled enthusiasm, demand and growth in the renewable energy production, wind energy being at the forefront. US wind power has more than tripled over the past decade, there are now over 56, 800 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 96,488 MW operating in 41 states. As the most promising renewable, clean, and reliable energy source, wind power is highly expected to take a much higher portion in power generation in the coming decades. This webinar will present the history of wind power, basic concepts of wind energy, modern turbine design and acquaint listeners with the physics and mechanics of wind turbine operation. In addition, engineering aspects related to different types of wind turbines, basic technologies and reliability of wind turbines will be covered
