New Horizons for Aviation Tribology

Thank you

This live web event has ended. Thank you for attending.

Description

This 60 minute webinar highlights the important role of aviation oils, bearing/gear materials and design/manufacturing in aviation gas turbines. It touches on how bearing/gear tribology interface successes are accomplished through remarkable tribology mechanisms. Also, attempts to advance technology through independent developments of lubricants and materials caused historical crisis in aviation tribology. Unless all the interface ingredients are addressed in design, there is high risk. The Technology Readiness Level (TRL) approach reduces risk, but is slow, costly and not conducive to innovation. Overall, the aviation tribology outlook is very bright through the emerging competencies involving tribology by design, which is based on first principles, new test/analysis tools, methodology and process. It’s time to focus on the future from lessons learned in the past.
