Mapping protocols vary across different clinical sites, as does experience with the varied anatomy of the upper extremity vasculature. The types and potential sites for creation of viable hemodialysis access is also widely varied. Understanding the traditional placement options and the new percutaneous approaches is vital to successful outcomes for dialysis patients.
Upon completion of this course, attendees should be prepared to:
Identify the relevant anatomy along with common anomalies.
Assess duplex findings for normal and abnormal characteristics.
Identify anatomy that supports various types of dialysis access
Construct a useful mapping report
