Description

Do you know where your governing documents are located? Governing documents, such as Articles of Incorporation, Constitution, and Bylaws, are frequently filed away never to see the light of day. This session will demonstrate why these documents are so important to your church. We will discuss how often these documents need to be reviewed and revised, what must be included, what should be included, what must be excluded, and what should be excluded. We will discuss the best practices for governing documents and mandatory policies that must be adopted by your church. Sample state of the art document samples will be provided.

Learning Outcomes

  1. The participant will learn the importance of governing documents including bylaws, incorporation documents, and rules of order.
  2. The participant will learn how state laws impact bylaws.
  3. The participant will realize the importance of having clear procedures for doing business prior to experiencing conflict.
  4. The participant will be able to explain how to amend bylaws.
