1. Barry Vaughn is the rector at Christ Church Episcopal in Las Vegas NV. He has served parishes in Alabama, California, and Pennsylvania and was founding director of Servant Year, one of the Episcopal Church’s young adult service programs. He has taught at several universities and the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia. A graduate of Harvard, Yale, and the University of St. Andrews, he has published numerous articles, as well as the book; Bishops, Bourbons, and Big Mules: A History of the Episcopal Church in Alabama. Barry loves books, movies, swimming, cycling, working out, and is an accomplished pianist. He is a native of Alabama.
2. Darrell Gwaltney is the dean for the College of Theology and Christian Ministry and the H. Franklin Paschall Chair of Biblical Studies and Preaching at Belmont University. He also serves as the Director of the Moench Center for Church Leadership. In addition to his classroom and administrative responsibilities, he has an active ministry working in local churches. He serves as an intentional interim and works in leadership development roles for churches. Darrell is an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, a lover of books, an erstwhile programmer, gardener, and big fan of his wife of 36 years, Donna, his daughter Meghan and her husband, Alvaro, his daughter Jordan, and his son Trey. 3. William “Bill” D. Shiell is the eleventh President of Northern Seminary, where he also serves as Professor of Pastoral Theology and Preaching. A native of Pensacola, Florida, Dr. Shiell holds degrees from Samford University (B.A.) and Baylor University (M. Div., Ph.D.). Dr. Shiell and his wife Kelly met while in college at Samford. They have two sons, Parker and Drake. Prior to coming to Northern, Dr. Shiell served as a Pastor of Baptist churches in Texas (McGregor and San Angelo); Tennessee (Knoxville); and Florida (Tallahassee). Dr. Shiell has published five books, primarily in New Testament. His pioneering work on the book of Acts combines the best of New Testament rhetoric. ancient Greek and Roman art, and oral interpretation for the church. His research interests are in the areas of the oral interpretation of scripture and the interaction of audiences with the speaker. He continues to research and write in the area of Performance Criticism as a member of the Society of Biblical Literature. His new book on Acts is a volume in a sermon-based commentary series called Preaching the Word.
