Description
We all know congregations are undergoing tremendous change in response to the tectonic shifts in American church life. We may not be as aware that judicatories – those regional church bodies whose primary mission is to support the congregations within their bounds – are undergoing similarly radical changes. Over the next two weeks, we are inviting two judicatory leaders to reflect on how they are dealing with those two levels of change simultaneously.
On May 12, Mary Westfall, Transitional Presbyter for North Central California Presbytery, will reflect on how she has led this new presbytery created by the merger of two former ones. On May 19, Jan Edmiston, General Presbyter of the Presbytery of Charlotte and blogger at “A Church for Starving Artists,” will give an east coast perspective on the challenges a changing presbytery faces as it works to help changing churches thrive.
