SETLN2022 Students with additional learning needs - engaging students with ASD

Presenter: Belinda Webb

Description:
Students who experience the condition of ASD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder, have specific learning needs. As a teacher it is important that you have a wide range of strategies to meet the learning needs of students and children who experience this condition. For example, one of the key characteristics of students with ASD or Autism Spectrum Disorder is a focus on fixed interests. This can manifest as an intense focus on a narrow topic and can be used by teachers to engage students with ASD in the learning that is happening in the classroom. In this session the presenter will explore strategies that can assist students with ASD to successfully achieve their learning goals in your learning space.
