CRT2360 Text types for all occasions

Presenter: Steven Kolber

Course Length: 1 hour(s)

Description:
Literacy is an essential part of the English curriculum but extends to all areas of the curriculum. Being literate in all areas is an important part of the learning journey. However there are different ways of being literate, different ways of engaging with texts and different text formats. CRTs who enter into classrooms where limited or no material has been made available benefit from having a toolkit of texts to draw from to engage students. This session will focus on exploration of different texts such as short stories, visual texts, plays, poems, songs and others. The presenter is a secondary teacher and will share a range of activities that involve these different text types which can be used to increase student engagement. CRTs working in primary settings are encouraged to attend, as the examples shared are suitable to be adapted to the material for students at different curriculum levels.
