Course Overview
Created by The Chlorine Institute, this course is a previously recorded webinar to help prepare first responders in preparing for and responding to a chlorine emergency. This course covers:

• Introduction to TRANSCAER®, CHEMTREC®, The Chlorine Institute, and CHLOREP.

• An overview of the uses, chemical and physical properties, and reaction hazards of chlorine.

• An overview of the health and environmental hazards that may be encountered.

• An understanding of chlorine exposure and treatment of exposures.

• Review of the various chloring shipping containers, how to identify them, and how to differentiate them from other chemical containers.

• An overview of the chlorine emergency response kits that can be used to mitigate leaks from those containers if other methods (i.e., closing valves, etc.) are not successful.

• Review of chlorine incident case studies.

• Review of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and pubic protective action recommendations, considerations, and decisions

• An overview of the resources available.

Course Length: Approximately 1.5 hours (course content, assessment, and survey)
