Learning Objectives
  • Appreciate the relative commonness of cystic pancreatic lesions and acknowledge their relatively benign/low-grade nature as opposed to solid tumors
  • Develop a differential diagnosis for cystic pancreatic tumors based on the pattern and cytology of the lining in combination with other associated findings
  • Appreciate the pre-cancerous lesions of the cysts lined by mucinous epithelium and the importance of their sampling and thorough examination
  • Be able to develop an approach to the handling of cystic specimens, including their grossing and microscopic examination
