The section on melanocytic tumors will cover a wide range of difficult lesions. It will compare and contrast benign entities that can be mistaken for melanoma and melanomas that can be easily mistaken for benign tumors. It will also cover difficult areas such as melanocytic proliferations on sun-damaged skin, desmoplastic melanoma, and special site nevi.The course will emphasize histologic diagnostic criteria and how to apply them in different clinical settings.
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Learn important histologic features for selected melanocytic neoplasms
- Apply diagnostic criteria in a practical approach to melanocytic tumors
- Apply clinical information into the approach to the diagnosis of melanocytic tumors
To earn CME and SAM credit, all learners must take a content-based exam and achieve a minimum score of 80%. If learners do not achieve a passing score of 80%, they have the option to retake the exam.
