Learning Objectives:
  • Recognize the common as well as clinicopathologically important variants of papillary thyroid carcinoma and mimics
  • Recognize the pathologist’s contribution to the diagnosis of C-cell thyroid disease and its clinical, prognostic and genetic implications and be able to distinguish medullary carcinoma from its histologic mimics 
  • Identify various forms of thyroiditis and the intra-thyroidal lesions that are associated with embryological development of the branchial pouches (often in thyroiditic glands), and discern their clinical implications and associated lesions
