Unfortunately, the main “area” of the title insurance industry that is booming is business in the Claims Department! The purpose of this presentation is to increase awareness of the problem areas which can lead to the filing of claims and ways in which to minimize having the dreaded “C” word coming your way.

Carol N. Hare graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Business Administration and, in 1981, from Wake Forest School of Law. She was admitted to practice law in North Carolina in 1981 and in South Carolina in the year 1982. Carol was a partner with the law firm of Roddey, Carpenter & White, P.A., and then Kennedy, Covington, Lobdell & Hickman, P.C. prior to relocating to Virginia in 1992. During her time in the Carolinas, she served as Chairman of the Real Estate Section of the South Carolina Bar and was an Associate Member of the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline. Admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1993, Carol managed several title agencies affiliated with a Virginia Beach law firm prior to joining the Norfolk law firm of Wilks and Alper, P.C. Her practice concentrated in real estate and corporate matters. She joined Fidelity National Title Insurance Company in July, 2003 and is the Tidewater underwriting counsel. Carol is currently serving as President of the Virginia Beach Community Development Authority and is a former member of the Board of the Virginia Land Title Association.
