    Michihiro Hide graduated from Hiroshima University School of Medicine, Hiroshima, Japan in 1984 and received his doctoral degree from the Graduate School of Medical Science at Hiroshima University, Department of Dermatology, Hiroshima, Japan, in 1988. He began a clinical fellowship that same year at University Hospital, Hiroshima University School of Medicine; a research fellowship at St. John's Institute of Dermatology, St. Thomas' Hospital, London, United Kingdom, in 1990; and a clinical fellowship at University Hospital, Hiroshima University School of Medicine in 1993. From 1988 to 1990, Dr. Hide was a Special Volunteer/Visiting Associate with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, United States of America.

    Dr Hide served as a dermatologist at Onomichi General Hospital from 1993 to 1996. He was a research associate at Hiroshima University School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology from 1996 to 1999 and Assistant Professor from 1999 to 2001. Since 2001, Dr. Hide has held the position of Chairman and Professor, Institute of Biomedical and Health Sciences, Hiroshima University.

    Dr Hide is a member of the Japanese Dermatological Association; Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology; The Japan Organization of Clinical Dermatologists; Japanese Society of Allergology; The Japanese Society for Dermatoallergology and Contact Dermatitis; The Japanese Society for Immunology; and The Biophysical Society of Japan. His major interests are: allergy, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, biosensors, and wound healing.
