This 11 module course is designed to help those planning to obtain an ICC certification as a Permit Technician or as a Zoning Inspector. Code enforcement staff, building inspectors, plans examiners, as well as additional jurisdictional staff, will gain valuable zoning understanding, legal training, and IBC code updates. Instruction in Legal Aspects of Code Enforcement will also assist those preparing for building official certification. Topics to be covered include an overview of the International Zoning Code, legal aspects of code enforcement, and an overview of IBC Chapters 1, 2, 3, 6, and 12.
Each of the 11 practice quizzes, as well as the practice exam, must be completed with a passing score of at least 75% in order to finish the course. This course is designed to be a complete overview of the IBC and serves as both an exam preparation course, as well as a review course for code professionals of all levels of expertise.

Instructors: Alexa Nielsen has been a plan intake specialist, and plans examiner for well over 3 years. She is an ICC certified building and accessibility plans examiner. She provides plan review services to several jurisdictions throughout the western United States. She has done plan review for several large projects throughout Utah, Nevada, California, and Washington, including work on several multi-family projects and large commercial projects. She has also contributed to the development, instruction, and maintenance of the WC3 Code Academy. Currently, she performs commercial plan reviews for clients in Utah, Nevada, and Washington.
Todd Snider, PE, SE has more than 12 years of plan review and structural engineering design experience. He has performed plan reviews for thousands of projects throughout the western United States. Todd is a licensed structural engineer, has a Master's degree in Structural Engineering, and maintains ICC Certifications as a commercial building, mechanical, energy, and accessibility plans examiner. Todd teaches code classes in several states.
