    Joined Maulana Azad Medical College in year 1978 as Registrar in Ophthalmology.

    Has worked in different capacities as assistant professor,Professor,and Director Professor at Maulana Azad Medical College.

    Took voluntary retirement in 2005,eleven years prior to superannuation to join as Chief of Glaucoma division at Shroff Eye Centre considered best in private sector.

  • Dr. Suneeta Dubey

    At present, I am working as Associate Medical Director at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital Delhi, India. I am also heading department of Glaucoma and Quality Assurance at our hospital. After having obtained MS ophthalmology from the MGM medical college Indore in 1992, I did fellowship in Glaucoma from Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia under esteemed guidance of professor Spaeth. I have also been trained in management of paediatric and refractory glaucomas through ORBIS international. I am a member of the All India Ophthalmological Society, Delhi Ophthalmological Society, Glaucoma Society of India and International society of Spaeth fellows. I am a specialized instructor for teaching and training of national and international trainees and fellow ophthalmologists under the hospital’s medical education programme for the last ten years.

    I am having more than twenty publications and have been invited as faculty to over fifty national and international conferences. I have 20 years of dedicated experience in the field of ophthalmology and eradication of blindness from the community. I have received numerous awards for my contributions to scientific knowledge. The honours include, “ET - Selvam Award for the best poster presentation titled " Postoperative severe uveitis due to bacterial endotoxin in irrigating fluid; mimicking endophthalmitis" at AIOS Annual Conference, 2004 at Varanasi”, and certificate for Best presentation in glaucoma session for the paper titled “surgical outcomes of congenital glaucoma” at AIOS 2007 held at Hyderabad and best oral paper award at ICGS( International Congress for glaucoma Surgery) November 2010 for “Outcomes of Pediatric Glaucoma”.

Has 74 publications in reputed International and National Journals, and has contributed 17 chapters to various Text books. Recently, authored the Glaucoma section of an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Atlas. Has lectured all over the country at various fora on all topics of glaucoma

  • Dr. G Chandra Sekhar

    After receiving his basic medical degree in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, Dr. G Chandra Sekhar completed his residency in ophthalmology at the All India Institute for Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Dr. G Chandra has been associated with the LV Prasad Eye Institute from its inception in 1987. Dr. GC as he is popularly known is currently the Vice Chair and Director of Kallam Anji Reddy Campus at Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. He is an astute clinician and a passionate and popular teacher. As the head of the Glaucoma Service at LV Prasad Eye Institute, he has trained over 38 glaucoma fellows 8 of whom were international. His contributions as the Director of Education at LV Prasad Eye Institute have been recognized by the institution by creating a Chair on his name “G Chandra Sekhar Chair of Director of Education”.

    He has published over 92 papers in national and international peer reviewed journals and has been a reviewer for a number of Ophthalmology journals. He has delivered several named orations including the prestigious Professor P Siva Reddy Gold Medal Oration of the All India Ophthalmological Society. He holds the position of adjunct clinical Professor at the University of Rochester and Case Western Reserve University. He has served as the President of the Glaucoma Society of India (2005-06) and is a member of the Glaucoma Research Society affiliated to the International Council of Ophthalmology. He serves as a member of Board of Governors of World Glaucoma Association and in the Clinical Guidelines Committee of ICO.

  • Prof Ramanjit Sihota, MD

    Prof Ramanjit Sihota, MD, FRCS, FRCOphth, is heading the Glaucoma research facility and clinical services at Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India.

    She completed her MD Ophthalmology in 1982, and her FRCS, Edinburgh in 1984. She has won the World Glaucoma Association –‘ Research recognition award’ 2011, and numerous national and international awards for research in glaucoma, especially pertaining to primary angle closure disease, glaucoma surgery and imaging in glaucoma.

    She is a member of the International Glaucoma Research Society, the Glaucoma advisory group and Project evaluation committee of the Indian Council of Medical Research, the Postgraduate committee of the Medical Council of India, the executive committee of APGC and committees of the Association of International Glaucoma Societies/ World Glaucoma Association. She is a past president of the Glaucoma Society of India.

    She extensively revised ‘Parson’s Diseases of the Eye’, and has published over 100 papers in peer reviewed indexed international journals.

  • Dr. Vinay Nangia

    Dr. Vinay Nangia returned back to serve Central India and committed himself to control of blindness activities through proactive measures for the community and towards research in public health. He established the Suraj Eye Institute in Nagpur. The Institute has its own team of social workers and has reached out to hundreds of villages for holding camps and doing surgeries. Four years ago it brought paediatric eye care in its ambit and has worked continuously to screen and examined children in schools and slums. Both programs were developed in house and have been sustained over a long period of time. Meanwhile the Institute through its many achievements was able to attract many partnerships which have all been immensely productive. Singularly successful have been the partnerships with Rotary Netherlands, CORDAID, ORBIS and Heidelberg University. The Institute is now recognized for post graduation in Ophthalmology and has a residency training program which is recognized. In addition it provides for training Fellowships in Glaucoma Cataract and Medical Retina. Dr. Vinay Nangia was formerly the secretary of Glaucoma Society of India.

  • Dr. R. Ramakrishnan

    Dr. R. Ramakrishnan is the Chief Medical Officer & Professor of Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli, one of the branches of Aravind Eye Care System (A WHO collaborating centre for the Prevention of Blindness) He was born in Sevalkulam a village in Tirunelveli, District of Tamil Nadu, India. Dr. R.Ramakrishnan graduated his MBBS from Tirunelveli Medical College. He has completed his Master degree in ophthalmology in 1987 and joined Aravind Eye Care System in 1987. He had his basic glaucoma training under Dr. George Speath of Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia and Dr.Jacob T. Wilensky, Eye and Ear Infirmary, University of Illinois, Chicago in 1989. He was Chief of Glaucoma Services in Aravind Eye Hospital - Madurai from May 1988 to December 1996 and now as Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Glaucoma Services in Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli since February 1997. He is closely associated with Dr. Alan Robin of John’s Hopkins University for more than 2 decades and involved in many research projects.
    He has held many distinguished posts as Organizing Secretary for Glaucoma Society of India Conference during the year 1996 and 2003 and Organising Secretary of Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association conference in 1995, 2003 and 2011. He has served as the President, Glaucoma Society of India from 2002 to 2004. He has published more than 40 papers in peer reviewed journals. He was one of the principle investigators for Aravind comprehensive eye study, a population based epidemiologic study. He has received many awards like Best Teacher award by M.G.R. Medical University, Dr.K.S.Sanjeevi award, Best Video award, Best Poster award at AIOS conference, Vocational excellence award by Rotary Club etc.

    He has over 63 publications in indexed journals, three books and innumerable chapters in books to his credit mostly related to Glaucoma work. He has guided over 25 students in their thesis work related to Glaucoma.

    He has six laser procedures for glaucoma and anterior segment described for the first time in world literature, one being cited in the Shields text book of Glaucoma.

    Has conducted numerous courses successfully at AIOS and DOS as chief instructor and is a prolific teacher taking lectures throughout the country.

  • Dr. George V. Puthuran

    Dr. George V. Puthuran joined Aravind Eye Hospitals for post graduation in Ophthalmology in 1996 . He completed his MS (ophthalmology) in 1999 and joined Aravind Eye Hospitals (AEH), Madurai as a medical officer in general ophthalmology in Nov 1999 . He joined glaucoma services at AEH Madurai in Nov 2001 and is presently the head of department, glaucoma services at AEH Madurai . Affiliated to Dr . MGR Medical University as Professor of Ophthalmology. Presently is the principal coordinating investigator in the SLT Vs Latanoprost trial as primary treatment in POAG/OHT and the principal investigator in the safety & efficacy of Aurolab Aqueous Drainage Implant (AADI ) study. The AADI is similar in design to the BGI 350 & is a low cost alternative to patients with refractory glaucoma in resource poor communities in the developing world. Placed second in the surgical video competition at American Glaucoma Society 2012 meeting at New York for the video titled – Tube repositiong in anterior chamber for tube related complications of aqueous drainage devices. Married to Pamona , ophthalmologist who also works at AEH , Madurai and blessed with a son & a daughter.

  • Dr. SS Pandav

    Dr. Surinder Singh Pandav has about 20 years of experience as an ophthalmologist. he sub-specialize in Glaucoma which has been his area of interest for the last 15 years. He established glaucoma services at Advanced Eye Centre, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, which is currently among the most sought after eye hospitals in India. He is providing all aspects of glaucoma care including, clinical diagnosis, imaging, drug treatment, laser therapy and glaucoma surgery in adult as well as in children with glaucoma. His main spheres of work are patient care, medical education and research. In addition to teaching Ophthalmology students he also provides education and support to glaucoma patients and public through Glaucoma Support Network, that was created in 2010. He is actively involved in glaucoma research and has published about 60 research papers and delivered over 150 talks in various conferences/ seminars. In addition to glaucoma he is also does a large number of cataract surgeries. He has keen interest in information and communications technology. He designed and implemented EMR system for the glaucoma services at Advanced Eye Centre, where he is currently employed as Professor. In 2003 he helped World Health Organization design a website for Exchange of Information and Medical Faculty in South Asian Region. He is also involved in the Glaucomatous Optic Neuropathy Evaluation (GONE) project, which is an Internet based system for evaluation of Optic Disc Assessment Skills among ophthalmologists and trainees. GONE project is based at CERA, University of Melbourne, Australia.
