Webinar Description:

This webinar will focus on data sharing with commercial navigation providers, such as Waze, Google and Apple, to assist traffic engineers to amplify their public messaging to inform the traveling public and assist them in making smarter, safer journeys. This webinar will provide an overview of Waze data sharing, Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx) and Connected Work Zones (CWz) programs and how federal, state, and local governments are scheduling planned closures on streets for construction, sharing live work zone information, and finding congested routes to prioritize resources and ensure efficient journeys for the traveling public.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the significance of collaborating and data sharing with commercial navigation providers like Waze, Google, and Apple for traffic engineers to enhance traveler information to facilitate smarter and safer journeys.
  • Explore the Waze data sharing program, Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx), and Connected Work Zones (CWz) initiatives, including their features, functionalities, and benefits to traffic management.
  • Discover how federal, state, and local governments are utilizing these platforms to communicate planned street closures for construction, share live work zone information, and identify congested routes to effectively manage traffic flow.
  • Learn strategies for leveraging data from these platforms to prioritize resources, optimize traffic management strategies, and improve overall traffic engineering practices.
  • Develop practical skills for employing third party navigation platforms as tools to enhance communication with the traveling public, ensuring they have access to the most current and comprehensive travel information available.

Policies:
The webinar recording will be made available on-demand it will have a shelf life of 60 days to register before it is archived. Participants are able to purchase and retrieve their PDH credit certificate until their access to the content expires. After the content expires and goes into archive, the PDH credit certificate opportunity is forfeited.

    Crystal is VDOTs Traveler Information Program Manager. She has 18 years of service with the department and leads initiatives, piloting new technologies, managing 511 services, and representing the agency with Waze for Partners. Crystal holds an MBA in Homeland Security Resource Allocation and is a certified Project Management Professional.

  • Sheryl Bradley, Transportation Systems, Management & Operations (TSMO) Program Director | The Eastern Transportation Coalition | Orlando, Florida, United States

    Sheryl Bradley is the TSMO Program Director for The Eastern Transportation Coalition. She has 25-years of experience in various aspects of transportation safety, traffic operations, and coalition building. Sheryl's work over the last decade has been heavily focused in transportation management center (TMC) operations and traffic incident management (TIM). She is an advocate for using collaboration and data sharing for proactive traffic management.

  • Andrew Stober, Strategic Partnerships | Google - GEO | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

    Andrew builds strategic partnerships with the public sector for Waze, Google Maps, and Google sustainability efforts. He helps public agencies across the globe get the most from the Waze for Cities program, works with Google product teams to advance safety and sustainability efforts, and previously worked to accelerate the adoption of Waze Carpool to meet transportation demand management, climate, and transportation equity goals.

  • Adam Graham, Chief Product Officer | one.network | Halstead, England, United Kingdom

    As Chief Product Officer, Adam is responsible for product vision and execution. He works closely with the Federal Highway Administration, serving as the co-chair for both the WZDx Work Zone Data Working Group and the Specification Update Subgroup. He has previously held product leadership positions developing SaaS solutions in the RegRech and FinTech spaces. With one.network, Adam spearheads a customer focused and benefits led function, ensuring product evolution continually builds value across all customer segments and industry verticals.

  • Garrett Popovich, Road Ranger | Florida Department of Transportation | Orlando, Florida, United States

    Garrett Popovich has dedicated his entire career to the field of Public Safety. With a diverse background spanning 911 dispatching, law enforcement, fire rescue, traffic management, and operational support of navigation systems, Garrett has been with the Regional Traffic Management Center for five years as a consultant. He quickly assumed numerous positions within the FDOT District Five TSMO program. Currently, his assigned roles include Traffic Incident Management oversight, RTMC Communications Admin, and managing the Mapping and Navigation Liaison, showcasing his versatility and adaptability in delivering exceptional results.
