Description

In this series, participants will complete their journey to master skills-based hiring practices. In three, 90-minute weekly sessions, attendees will master onboarding and employee development, with a review of key concepts, small group activities and limited homework.

By completing their understanding of the entire skills-based hiring lifecycle, participants can upgrade their area's talent attraction practices and can use their knowledge to earn fee-for-service revenue for their chamber.

The series offering will meet on Tuesdays from 1:00  – 2:30 p.m. ET on the following dates: Feb. 27, Mar. 12 and Mar. 19 (No session on March 5).

Refund policy: If a cancellation is received one week (seven days) before the start date, ACCE will refund the registration amount minus a $15 processing fee. If received three days before the start date, a 50% refund minus a $15 processing fee will be issued. No refunds will be given afterwards.

  • Dexter Freeman II, IOM

    Dexter Freeman is a chamber of commerce professional with over 11 years of industry experience and demonstrated success in a variety of roles. He currently serves as Senior Director of Education Business Coalitions for UNITE-LA. In his role, Freeman develops, leads, and executes education and talent development strategies across the country.

    Freeman previously served as Vice President of Operations and Administration, and before that as Director of Intelligence, Innovation, and Education for the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce (Chamber). There he oversaw the operations, administration, human resources, and financial management of the 1,900 member-investor, organization and provided oversight of One Irving’s $3.1 million programmatic funding campaign that provided learning opportunities for hundreds of Irving students in the areas of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology & Math). Prior to joining the Chamber, he was Manager of CRM Data for the Dallas Regional Chamber and Project Assistant for APD Urban Planning & Management.

    In 2020, Freeman was recognized nationally by the Association of Chamber of Commerce of Executives (ACCE) as a 40 Under 40 award recipient. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, in 2018, recognized Freeman’s commitment to the nonprofit industry and completion of a comprehensive course of study with his certificate in Institute for Organization Management (IOM). He is a previous ACCE Education and Talent Development Division Fellow and participant in the ACCE Scholarship for Leadership Diversity program.

    Freeman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas. He is active in many civic and philanthropic activities including The Graduate! Network Board of Directors, Out Teach – Texas Local Board Member, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation – Winter Board of Regents of Institute for Organization Management, formerly a member of Uplift Education Board of Directors, the University of Dallas Board of Trustees and past President of the University of Dallas National Alumni Board, and has served on the District Improvement Committee for Irving Independent School District. Additionally, Freeman has collaborated with passionate leaders throughout the community in initiatives such as Dallas’s Mayor’s Star Council and IRON Dallas, a nonprofit that exists to provide recently relocated African Americans to Dallas a sense of community through personal and professional development programs and connections to seasoned professionals.

  • Amy Shields

    Amy Shields leads the work of the ACCE Foundation. The ACCE Foundation focuses on community impact in the areas of education and talent development, diversity, equity and inclusion, and economic and community development. Amy leads the development of signature programs like ACCE’s Fellowship, convenings for members, and foundation-related programming at the annual ACCE Convention.

    Prior to joining the ACCE team, Amy was a program manager at Grantmakers for Effective Organizations where she developed publications, conference sessions, digital content and workshops for grantmakers across the country. She previously worked in at the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership as the Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives.

    Amy earned her B.S. in political science and her M.S. in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University.
