The focus of this talk is to highlight midwifery opportunities for community engagement and varied models to promote funding of those initiatives.

Speaker Bio
Lisa Kane Low is the President of the A.C.N.M. Foundation. She brings to the Foundation her prior nonprofit leadership experience, both within ACNM and with other organizations serving birthing families. Lisa is a Professor in the School of Nursing, Women and Gender Studies and Department of OB/GYN at the University of Michigan.Lisa also serves on the board of two organizations with missions complementary to the Foundation’s; Birth Detroit, a Black-led organization building a birth center in Detroit, and Growing Forward Together, an organization providing education and training in trauma-informed care. She also has the privilege of working with birthing families as part of the University of Michigan Health System Midwifery Service, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
