We have more ways
than ever to screen for cervical cancer, but the guidelines can be confusing.
This is a review of the latest guidelines and newest technology available for
cervical cancer screening.

Jeanne Murphy-Stone, PhD, CNM, CPH, FACNM

Speaker Bio
Dr. Murphy-Stone is a
consultant on health care in the federal government. Previously, she was
an assistant professor at the George Washington University School of Nursing
and practiced with GW Midwifery. She currently practices per diem as a CNM at
Inova Loudoun Hospital and at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center.
She has over 29 years of experience as a nurse-midwife, practicing in settings
such as hospitals, community clinics, a birth center, and as a volunteer in a
needle-exchange van in Baltimore City. She earned a PhD from Johns Hopkins
University School of Nursing along with a graduate certificate in Health
Disparities and Health Inequality from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public
Health. Her dissertation was a randomized trial of self-sampled HPV testing to
improve cervical cancer screening in a group of women living with HIV. In 2016
she completed the Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program at the National Cancer
Institute. Dr. Murphy-Stone received her midwifery education and master’s
degree at Yale University School of Nursing, an AS in Nursing from Springfield
Technical Community College, and an AB in Comparative Literature
(English/Spanish) from Brown University.
