Session one. Stress Management and Resiliency Science and Training

Description

The goal of this session is for participants to examine their stressors and identify the resources they have to cope with stress. The session begins with an overview of the science behind the stress response and the relaxation response and the concept of resiliency. We address the overall process involved in building resiliency and its three essential components.

Learning Objectives

Participants will;
I. Identify the science behind the stress response
2. Understand the principal of allostasis and allostatic load and its impact on the body.
3. Identify the relaxation response and its impact on the body
4. Identify the process involved in building resiliency
5. Gain awareness of their energy battery by naming three stress-draining and three stress-energizing experiences/activities in their life
6. Develop a weekly practice routine and practice log.
