Session 2: Assessment for Prescription of a Bioptic

Participants will learn:

1. How are clients identified as qualifying for a bioptic?
2. What assessments are used for determining prescription of a bioptic?
3. What criteria is used and how are clients determined to be NOT eligible?

Session 3: Consumer Panel Discussion: Consumer Reactions to Inability to Drive
April 8, 11:30-1:00 Pacific
Panel members will discuss:

1. What are alternate "rites of passage" for youth who are blind?
2. What options do consumers use for transportation, since they are unable to drive?
3. How does a person who is blind remain in control of driving when they are a passenger/navigator?
4. What options are available to arrive at a destination when a driver gets the passenger "close?"
5. What is the future like with self-driving cars?
