Upon completion of this course, the attendee will be able to identify the basic fire alarm system fundamentals, system components, installation requirements, and the proper methods used to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code and NFPA 70, National Electrical Code.

Course Description
This basic fire alarm seminar is an application course beneficial for new installers, sales personnel, service technicians, plus building and fire inspectors involved in acceptance testing and/or plans review. This course is also useful as a refresher for anyone involved with fire alarms.

Dr. Rodger Reiswig, Johnson Controls

Dr. Rodger Reiswig is a Fellow with Johnson Controls and serves as VP, Industry Relations. With over 35 years in the fire protection industry including training, product support, application design, sales and management experience. Rodger currently serves on numerous NFPA Technical Committees as well as NFPA’s Standards Council. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Fire Protection Research Foundation. In addition, Rodger serves as a board member for the Center for Campus Fire Safety and is the Immediate Past President of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association. He is the Chair of NEMA’s Life Safety Signaling Section as well as serves as Vice-Chair on NEMA’s Codes and Standards Committee. Rodger serves as Chair of the Electronic Security Association’s Codes and Standards Committee. Rodger also serves on ISO TC21 for Fire Alarm Systems and IEC TC 79 Security Systems and Components Committees. Rodger holds a NICET level IV Fire Alarm Systems Certification, NICET level II Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems and NICET level I Special Hazards Layout Certification and holds a Master’s Degree in Biblical Theology from Evangelical Theological Seminary. Rodger holds certifications from Two Rivers Technologies as a Master in Telecommunications and from Eastern Technical holds a certification in Electronics Technology and Microprocessor Design.
