Description
Pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) are used to guide antibiotic dosing, balancing the effect of the antimicrobial drug on the body (e.g., metabolism and toxicity) with the effect on the organism, respectively. The role of PK/PD in establishing breakpoints used in clinical microbiology laboratories will be explored in this session.
