Overview

Communication happens everywhere and anywhere! The challenge is how to do this from morning to night and make it fun, not forced. You’ll learn a simple framework to ensure your AAC learners are engaged and active during their day. Participants will hone their skills in developing context-based learning to ensure fun and function for the AAC learner. Anyone supporting AAC learners (SLPs, educators, parents, therapists) will benefit from this fast-paced session. Come join us for discussion, video examples, and group activities to see how to put AAC into action anywhere and everywhere!

Biography

Beth Waite-Lafever is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist and has ATP certification from RESNA. With over 30 years of experience in the field of AAC, she has supported AAC communicators, their families, and service providers in various settings, including outpatient rehab, private practice, and public school, Beth has provided trainings and presentations at the state, national and international level. She loves talking AAC and literacy, supporting families and teams, and all things implementation.

Amanda Samperi, MS, CCC-SLP

Biography

Amanda ML Samperi is a speech-language pathologist with a particular love of assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Pennsylvania State University, and worked for several years in the school, home, and medical settings. She is thrilled to be helping others with their communication journey as an AAC Consultant with PRC-Saltillo! Amanda has presented on topics related to AAC at ASHA, IEE Electrical Safety Workshop, AAC in the Cloud, PSHA, Closing the Gap, and ATIA. Amanda holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education Speech-Language Specialist Certification. Amanda is committed to dispelling myths around AAC and creating a world where everyone has a voice.
