Overview

Are you using WordPower to it’s full potential to power through your day? WordPower is a unique, logical, and intuitive language system for individuals using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Learn about the many features available in WordPower that make it valuable in the classroom, in the real world, and everywhere! This session will highlight features of WordPower that make communication easy. You will also brainstorm ways to being to using these features immediately when you get back to work.

Content Disclosure: This presentation will focus solely on PRC-Saltillo products, services, and resources and will not include information on other similar or related products, services, and resources.

  1. Describe two features that can be used in the classroom setting to improve vocabulary and language.
  2. Show two features that can be used to communicate during activities of daily living.

Biography

In 2010, Betsy graduated with her Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Missouri and then, went on to gain clinical experience in a variety of settings including a pediatric outpatient clinic, an Applied Behavior Analysis private school, and a Skilled Nursing Facility. In these settings, Betsy had the opportunity to work with children, teens and adults who use AAC. As an AAC Consultant for PRC-Saltillo, she currently works with teams evaluating clients who need AAC and teams implementing AAC in home, school, clinic, and community environments. Betsy provides support for PRC-Saltillo products and services across Western Missouri and Kansas. Betsy has enjoyed working for PRC-Saltillo for the past 9 years and is proud to work for company dedicated to enabling individuals with speech and language impairments the ability to successfully communicate and interact in their environment.

Biography

Cortney Maholtz is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist. Cortney has been an SLP for 14 years working in a variety of settings including rehabilitation, schools, and private practice. Cortney’s passion is AAC and at PRC-Saltillo she enjoys getting to help others on their AAC journey as a training and implementation specialist.
