This session aims to provide attendees with the information they need to know to get started when it comes to adapting toys for switch access. We will cover effective strategies and techniques for individuals to use when adapting toys on their own, as well as ways to involve community members, both one-on-one and through special events. Switch adapted toys can have a tremendous positive impact on children with disabilities, potentially introducing them to switches at a young age and encouraging greater use of assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication. This session seeks to provide the tools necessary to help more and more children benefit from switch adapted toys.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate two or more methods for adapting toys for switch access.
