Participants in this session will explore laws, rules, and statutes governing ASL accessible educational materials (AEM) in K-12 schools, ensuring rights and accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. They will identify at least three valuable ASL resources, including apps, online platforms, and interactive tools, to effectively incorporate ASL into instruction. Additionally, participants will discover resources to create their own ASL AEM, such as software applications and video editing tools, enabling customization of instructional materials to meet student requirements. This session aims to enhance accessibility and provide practical tools for inclusive education.

Biography
Cara Wilmot is the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) Regional STEM Center (NRSC) Florida STEM Academy Coordinator. She has a dual bachelor's degree in Deaf Education and Elementary Education from Flagler College. Her master's degree is in Exceptional Education from the University of North Florida (UNF). She is currently a UNF Project SPIDERS OSEP grant scholar pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership. She has 25 years of expertise in Deaf Education with specialties in the areas of Reading Intervention, Transition, Itinerant Services, and Expanded Skills.

Sara Tinti, BA

Biography
Sara received her BA in Deaf Education from University of North Florida in 2019. She currently is a Certified Teacher of the Deaf an Hard of Hearing Itinerant for Duval County Public schools. Sara is the Web Master for the Florida Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Association. She also serves a steering committee member for University of North Florida's Deaf Education program.
