Participants in this session will receive information and participate in discussion related to tools and resources for designing a learning environment that is not only accessible, but also provides opportunities for student choice. Tools, resources, and strategies will be shared that can be implemented immediately.

- Describe at least two laws, rules, or statutes related to assistive technology implementation in learning environments.
- Identify at least three scenarios in which low-tech and high-tech tools could be provided as an accommodation.
- Recommend at least two tools, resources, or strategies that improve accessibility to a learning environment, as they relate to a student or client profile.

Putnam County School District, Itinerant Teacher for the Deaf-Hard of Hearing
Biography
Kori Gedris has been the itinerant Teacher for students who are Deaf-Hard of Hearing in Putnam County Florida for ten years. Prior to working with the DHH population, she worked in a separate class setting with students who had significant cognitive disabilities and taught using alternate achievement standards to the general education standards. Kori has been involved in administering and/or supervising the administration of the Florida Alternate Assessment in her district since 2008. Additionally, she was the 2023 President of Florida Educators of students who are Deaf-Hard of Hearing, FEDHH.

I receive a salary from Putnam County School District as per my
employment as an Itinerant Teacher for the Deaf-Hard of Hearing. I also
received financial benefit of waived conference fees and travel expenses
related to the Florida Educators of students who are Deaf-Hard of Hearing,
FEDHH, conference as a member of the Board 2022-2024.

Cara Wilmot
Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, NRSC, STEM Academy Coordinator
Biography
Cara Wilmot is the National Technical Institute for the Deaf(NTID) Regional STEM Center (NRSC) Florida STEM Academy Coordinator. She has a dual bachelor's degree in Deaf Education and Elementary Education from Flagler College. Her master's degree is in Exceptional Education from the University of North Florida (UNF). She is currently a UNF Project SPIDERS OSEP grant scholar pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership. She has 25 years of expertise in Deaf Education with specialties in the areas of Reading Intervention, Transition, Itinerant Services, and Expanded Skills.
