Acts of the Apostles

This course will examine the New Testament book: Acts of the Apostles.

This online independent study course is an introduction to the New Testament book: Acts of the Apostles, from which daily and Sunday Mass readings are chosen throughout the entire season of Easter each year. Students will explore introductory topics such as authorship of the book, dating, and literary qualities, and then examine the mission and challenges of the early Church in and outside of Jerusalem. Those who complete this course should be able to identify how Luke shows Jesus continuing to guide the Church from heaven in the actions of the apostles and explain how Luke has so structured Acts to make it justify baptizing Gentiles without the need for them to become Jews first.
