This online independent study course will provide a survey of the famed Crusading era. It will focus on the causes and conduct of the major Crusades and their impact on the Church and the world. Students who complete this seminar course should be able to discuss the broader historical aspects of the Crusades, including the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Reconquista, situate the Crusades in their proper historical context, and refute the many modern misinterpretations of the Crusader movement.
