June 22, 2023 - Informational Certification Webinar

Time: 2:00pm

Presenter: Aaron Paul, Certification Manager at CMHA

Big changes are coming to the certification department at CMHA. Our Concrete Paver Installer course will be updated on July 1st, 2023 to its 10th edition. This webinar will discuss why the change to ISO 17024 and what these changes mean both for those who have a current certificate, and those looking to still become certified. There will be time at the end of any Q&A attendees might have. The updated program will conform to a new standard, ISO 17024, in order for CMHA to pursue accreditation for this program. Accreditation provides an added layer of legal defensibility against invalid claims. Many government agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Federal and State OSHA, and the FDA, rely on accreditation as it assures the competency of the certification program. Accountability and transparency built into the accreditation process support conformity assessment attestations, and can result in reduced liability insurance.

Please come join us! This will help you navigate the changes coming to the program, and give you head start!

Who should attend: Certified Installers, Office managers, Office staff.

August 3, 2023 - Maintenance of Interlocking Concrete Pavers

Time: 2:00pm

Presenter: Rob Bowers, P. Eng. - V.P. of Engineering for Hardscapes

This webinar discusses best practices in the fast-emerging market of interlocking concrete pavement maintenance. Learn how to take your business to the next level, and how to do it properly! This webinar will review the technical document "Tech Spec 6 – Maintenance of Interlocking Concrete Pavements", which covers different methods of preventative maintenance, winter maintenance, the types of distress and remedies to them, and the restoration process. This can be utilized and applied to commercial and residential concrete pavement applications.

September 14, 2023 CMU and Carbon

Time: 2:00pm

Presenter: Nick Lang, P.E. - V.P. of Engineering for Hardscapes

October 12, 2023 - Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavements in Comparison to Porous Asphalt and Pervious Concrete

Time: 2:00pm

Presenter: Bryan Horr, P.E. - DIVISION ENGINEER, SEGMENTAL PAVEMENTS

Compared to other storm water control measures, permeable pavements hold the biggest potential for storm water runoff and pollutant reductions. Porous asphalt, pervious concrete, and permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) over open-graded aggregate reservoirs have been in use for decades. All permeable pavements do these two jobs well. This one-hour presentation examines research and experience comparing design, construction, performance, and maintenance of these pavement options and how PICP offers unique benefits and advantages.

November 2, 2023 - Intro Segmental Retaining Wall Systems

Time: 2:00pm

Presenter: Gabriela Mariscal, P.E. - DIVISION ENGINEER, SRW

This presentation covers a basic overview of segmental retaining wall systems and materials; including how SRW units are manufactured, terminology, soils, geosynthetics, and construction practices and requirements. By the end of this presentation one will have a better understanding of different aspects of segmental retaining walls. This program is best suited for those with little to no background in segmental retaining wall systems or materials; or for those desiring a refresher course in segmental retaining walls. The information presented here is built upon in more advanced topics covered in other programs by CMHA.

December 5, 2023 - Manufacture Stone Veneer Overview

Time: 2:00pm

Presenter: Shoaib Yosoufzai, P.E. - STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING PROJECT Mgr, MASONRY

This presentation reviews the key components of adhered manufactured stone veneer (MSV) systems, minimum building code requirements and ASTM standards governing manufactured stone and its installation, and industry recommendations addressing gaps not covered by existing building code requirements. As well as learning the aspects of installing and detailing practices to ensure durability of manufactured stone.
