Comprehensive Case Management Assessment: Truth and Consequences

*** CCM Ethics and RN hours ***
Originally presented at 2021 Annual Conference

Assessment is the starting point of professional case management practice. Creating the record; a legal document, is essential. Our clients rely on our being thorough and accurate, but full disclosure can effect next steps, reimbursement, and employment. It can also impact liability exposure for the case manager. What to include, what to leave out, who will have access to the record, and is the record defensible?

OBJECTIVES:
  1. The Case Manager will recognize the scope and purpose of assessment.
  2. The Case Manager will apply ethical and legal mandates to the assessment process.
  3. The Case Manager will develop confidence in preparation and sharing the assessment.
