Microcredentialing and generational use of credentials

About the Webinar

The emergence of alternative credentials is well documented as part of the evolving credentialing landscape. Some alternative credentials include digital badges, nano-degrees, verified certificates, stackable credentials, and micro-credentials, the topic of this webinar. Within the array of alternative credentials, micro-credentials are a viable, credible means for credentialing enterprises to meet the needs of an ever-evolving learner, worker and/or certified person. Credentialing enterprises are also enhancing their portfolio of credential offerings with micro-credentials, some of them stemming from or supplementing certifications or training programs, and others being developed independently to fill a needed job function, skill set, or knowledge area.

Still undefined, micro-credentials are generally agreed to as a smaller, discrete, specialized opportunity for education and skills assessment, for both learners wanting to demonstrate a level of proficiency in a skill and/or job function, and workers seeking the same to remain current in and/or advance in their jobs, some of which may already require training or certification.

Explore models of micro-credentials within existing credentialing ecosystems, and learn how micro-credentials are one way for credentialing enterprises to respond to the needs and preferences of their constituents.
