Going Solo: Getting Ready to Hang Your Own Shingle (Spring 2024)

Many attorneys make the decision to take their own path in the law, rather than work for a firm or other organization. This decision can provide freedom and an opportunity for a  variety of practice areas, but it is also a lot of work. You don't have to do it alone! This experience will lay out the things you need to know to hang out your own shingle: from marketing to budgets, and from client interactions to leasing space, you'll learn everything you need to know to go out on your own.

During this experience you will:
  • Explore effective practices for setting up your own shop
  • Brainstorm ideas of how to market your services
  • Troubleshoot common errors made in billing and finance
  • Locate resources designed to assist and support you in your first year
