Description

Payment credentials are widely available as a result of Account Takeover and eSkimming attacks. Payment authentication practices will be thrust into the spotlight as a means for mitigating this risk.

PSD2’s Strong Customer Authentication has already kickstarted this journey for many MAG merchants. This session looks at the current state of payments authentication, beyond just 3D-Secure, and where it’s headed as these practices promise to have a deep impact on payments in the coming decade.

    René Pelegero founded RPGC in 2002 after 4 years operations as head of Global Payments at Amazon.com. 

    René has helped many large companies deploy global payment acceptance services. He spear headed the launch of payment acceptance in 60 countries and 48 currencies for a global search engine (a project completed in six months) and assisted a major media provider enter the Latin American and European markets. 

    René joined PayPal as Sr. Director of Strategy and Industry Relations in 2006 but relaunched RPGC in 2011 providing strategic advice to some of the largest global brands on payment acceptance practices and deployments. Currently, René directs consulting efforts at RPGC for Clients such as Google, FedEx, Airbnb, T-Mobile, and Microsoft. 

    Rene is a thought-leader, publishing impactful White Papers such as “The Need for Real Time Payments in the US” in 2013 and “Payments Orchestration Layer–Necessary Functionality in the Payments Stack” in 2019.

  • Daniel Pelegero | Payments Consultant - RPGC Group LLC

    Dan Pelegero studies payment gateways, orchestrators, and payment service providers as a consultant for the boutique firm, Retail Payments Global Consulting Group. He authors the annual Paladin Payment Systems Vendor Report and co-authored the first white paper on Payments Orchestration in 2019.
