Empirical research will guide the discussion into the systemic factors that have historically influenced the levels of involvement among Black and Brown fathers. Followed by the benefits of using curriculum-based programs to help fathers become more involved, empowered, and influential in the development of children. The discussion will conclude with resources that professionals working with families may find beneficial as it relates to supporting fathers.

Learning Objectives - Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify systemic factors that have influenced Black and Brown fatherhood involvement.

  2. Identify the benefits of curriculum-based fatherhood programs.
  3. Identify fatherhood resources that help fathers establish and maintain healthy relationships with their children

Suggested Audience: Social workers, educators, and any other professionals working with children & families

Content Level: Beginning level courses introduce learners to a content area; include information about a condition, treatment method, or issue; and involve learning and comprehending content.
