Program Overview
Learn how to implement evidence-based best practices into action with NASN's new Seizure and Epilepsy Clinical Guideline. Implementation of this Guideline will assist the school nurse in providing high quality care of students with seizure disorders in order to improve the health and safety of students with epilepsy. Discover how to optimize student care plans including seizure action plans, understand the importance of interdisciplinary care coordination management, learn how to handle rescue medication administration at school and key tips on how to maximize student seat time while improving health outcomes. This course will give you all of the guidance you need to keep students with seizure disorders healthy, safe and ready to learn in your school community. 

Learning Outcomes
As a result of participating in this educational activity, learners will be able to:
  • Identify five evidence-based practices from the guidelines that will improve student safety.
  • Identify two ways to apply the guideline into their practice.
  • Compare/contrast two ways the guidelines differ from current practice.
Intended Audience
This continuing education program is a knowledge-based activity developed to meet the educational needs of registered nurses who are interested in child and adolescent health.
