Target Audience This continuing education (CE) activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of nurse practitioners and other healthcare providers who provide primary care for women.

Approval
This activity has been approved by the Continuing Education Approval Program of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH) for 1.0 continuing education pharmacology contact hours.

 CE Approval Period: Now through February 28, 2026
Post-tests must be completed during the approval period with a passing score of 70% or higher to earn CE. No refunds will be issued if the activity is not completed within the approval period.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

1. Describe mechanism of action, efficacy, use instructions, side effects, and contraindications for new progestin-only contraceptives.

2. Describe mechanism of action, efficacy, use instructions, side effects, and contraindications for new combination hormone contraceptives.

3. Discuss updated duration of use approvals for various intrauterine devices.

4. Discuss mechanisms of action for currently available emergency contraception pills.
