  • Deirdre L. Simmons

    Deirdre L. Simmons, an encouraging motivating coach, commercial talent, entrepreneur, and strategic business professional, has 20+ years of human resources, operations, and leadership knowledge and skill.

    She has a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication with minors in Management and Supervision from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the UCONN School of Business. She has a varied background as a youth ministry leader, commercial talent, thought leader (as a panelist for leadership and diversity conferences). and as a guest speaker for Disrupt HR delivering her session “HR Lessons from Cardi B”. She has worked at Pepsi-Cola, Ford Motor Company, Department of Homeland Security, Bloomingdale’s, and in construction management.

    As a learning and development specialist, keynote speaker, and graduation speaker, she has stood before audiences of 10 to 350 people. She is currently an adjunct professor at UCONN using various pedagogical methods to achieve course objectives and influence lives.

    In addition to teaching, her role as GoCoach Coach helps shift lives. It is her mantra to “get people where they need to be” and through coaching, she helps others maximize their potential in a safe, culturally competent, ethical space. Deirdre, as the HR Manager for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), is responsible for talent management, employee relations, performance management, strategy alignment, and learning and development. Part of the role is to help leaders coach and develop their staff and hold courageous performance management conversations.

    Deirdre Simmons volunteers for the Congregations Organized for a New Connecticut (CONECT) - a social justice organization. Her responsibilities include facilitating an online information session on Race, Ethnicity & Language Data, moderating a Becoming, an Anti-Racist Organization, and operations and logistics for a 750+person assembly including managing a volunteer staff of 25+ people.
