STLNL2228 Lead professional learning for school improvement

Presenter: Maria Varlet

Description:
Schools promote professional learning and professional development for leaders, teachers and educators. It is a critical component of school improvement. But what is the link between professional learning and development and improvement? How does a school support leaders, teachers and educators to develop in such a way as to achieve improvement? How as a school leader do we know if the professional learning we are promoting is making a difference. These are challenging but core questions for the work of school leaders. In this session the presenter will explore research on professional learning and development; provide examples of effective professional learning and development programs/ and pose both questions and criteria that you can take back to your school to challenge your own school practices in the quest for improvement. There will be opportunities for discussion, exploration and questions. It will be a great course for those people currently working as Professional Development Coordinators but is important for all learning leaders and HAT and LEAD teachers who have professional learning as part of their role.
