This course will give agents
and examiners an understanding of why mechanics’ liens are a serious issue for
purchasers, lenders and title insurance companies. Participants will learn what coverage for
mechanics’ liens in title insurance policies, how to identify a mechanics’ lien
issue, requirements for a Mechanics’ Lien Agent, how to underwrite mechanics’
lien coverage, information needed from the search to effectively underwrite a
filed mechanics’ lien, and options for dealing with a filed mechanics’ lien.
Lisa Tully
Lisa Tully is Vice President – Underwriting Counsel for the Fidelity
National group of companies, which include Fidelity National Title Insurance
Company, Chicago Title Insurance Company and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance
Company. She received a Bachelor of Arts
from the University of Richmond and a Juris Doctor from its law school.
Lisa began her career in the title insurance industry in 1987 with
Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation and is now underwriting counsel for the
Virginia agency division of the Fidelity National Title Group. In this capacity she analyzes the risks associated
with title insurance coverage for Virginia agents and acts as a resource to the
company’s employees and customers.
Lisa speaks regularly to title insurance industry groups and real
estate attorneys on real property and title insurance issues. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the
Richmond Bar Association (Real Estate Section Chair 2019-2020), and CREW
Richmond, and is a former director of the Virginia Land Title Association.
Lisa serves on the board of The READ Center, an adult literacy
non-profit organization, and on the development committee of Camp Hanover, of
which she is a former board chair. In
her down time Lisa enjoys hiking, reading, renovating an historic home with
husband Bob, and spending time with her adult children and grandchildren.
This course is approved for 1-hour of CE, CLE and CCE (VCTE & VCTSA) credits. If you received credit for the live version of this course, you cannot receive credit for the online version even though the course numbers differ.
