Contributors

  • David P. Otey, MA, MBA

Otey parlayed 25 years’ experience in broadcast engineering into a second career as a speaker and trainer to scientists and engineers. The pivotal event in that transition was the training, which Otey led, of more than 10,000 TV engineers and technicians over a 33-month period in 2007-2009 in support of the rollout of a new digital technology. As an engineer, Otey was certified at the highest level by the Society of Broadcast Engineers. As a speaker, he has studied under world-champion speakers and is a Certified World Class Speaking CoachTM. He has contributed to books in both fields, including the NAB Engineering Handbook, Tenth Edition (2007) and World Class Speaking in Action (2015). His newest book, The Speaker’s Quick Guide to Telling Better Stories, is due out October 2. In November, he is pleased to be making his second speaking appearance at the AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition.
